FREE PACIFICA LEGAL ACTION FUND LAUNCHES $300,000 FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN.

There are currently three lawsuits seeking to remove the Pacifica Foundation Board of Directors for gross abuse and for illegal bylaws amendments and "board packing."
If these lawsuits are successful (and we believe they have very strong legal foundation and can be won) the directors on the board who are NOT FIT TO SERVE the mission of Pacifica will be removed, an interim board will be seated, and we can begin a national dialogue & brainstorming session about how to restructure Pacifica's governance & management so that it will work, both as a network and as five individual community radio stations, and carry out democratic election of directors and station boards -- that are accountable to the listener-sponsors and station staffs --within one year.
The Pacifica Foundation can be restored to its radical mission:
"contribut[ing] to a lasting understanding
between nations and between the individuals of all nations, races, creeds
and colors; to gather and disseminate information on the causes of conflict
between any and all of
such groups; and through any
and all means compatible with the purposes of this corporation to promote
the study of political and economic problems and of the causes of religious,
philosophical and racial antagonisms." (From
Pacifica's Articles of Incorporation)
or, in other words, being a thorn in the side of the the governmental/corporate media propagandists.
Our $300,000 campaign is simple and direct. If 3,000 people send $100, each, to the "umbrella" fund to support the three lawsuits, we will achieve our goal. (Smaller or larger donations will also help, of course.)
Tax-Deductible contributions can be sent
to:

Each of the lawsuits also will continue to raise funds independently in order to maintain their legal autonomy. However this joint pool will be divided equally between the 3 suits and will help make certain that all three suits are strong and able to carry out their essential work.
Please pass this information on to organizations you belong to -- 3,000 people isn't that many. Surely, it will not be hard to find them.
Thanks,
Carol Spooner
