Speakers List for SFLR Benefit Grows

More and more speakers have been added to our Aug. 28 program,
"Celebrating Human Liberation, Animal Liberation, and Six Years of
Liberating the Airwaves"--so much so that this promises to be a night
you won't want to miss.

So far our speakers list includes:

Sister Bernie Galvin, of Religious Witness with Homeless People--Sister
Bernie will discuss the failure of Mayor Willie Brown--now in a race for
re-election--to honor his pledge regarding Presidio housing for homeless
people.

Earth First! attorney Dennis Cunningham--Dennis, who also represents San
Francisco Liberation Radio, will discuss the late Judi Bari's ongoing
lawsuit against the FBI.

Plus: Virginia Handley of the Fund for Animals; Derek St. Pierre of Act
Up-San Francisco; Eric Mills of Action for Animals; Richard Edmondson of
SFLR; and music by Pat Cuviello on guitar.

The program, which will be held at Fort Mason, building C, room 260
starting at 7 p.m., will be a benefit for SFLR.

A $15 sliding-scale donation is requested--no one turned away for lack
of funds. However, please be generous. Our fundraising goals for the
remainder of this year are to raise enough money to make it possible to
netcast, as well as buy a generator enabling the station to remain on
the air in the event of a power outage.

Regional Micro Radio Meeting Set

The FCC has now closed the period for public commentary on the
legalization of micro radio. However, much organizing and activism
remains to be done. A regional/northern California micro radio meeting
will take place Saturday, Aug. 21, 1999, starting at 1 p.m. The meeting
will be held at the Unitarian Fellowship at Cedar and Bonita streets in
Berkeley.

All are invited.
