We as a movement disagree with the approach taken by the current Pacifica regime of using Arbitron numbers as a measure of Pacifica's "success." That is because these statistics measure listening in terms of potential revenues, by numbers; it was a system created to enable commercial stations to set prices for advertising. Nothing in these numbers indicates the quality or uniqueness of the material provided, whether the broadcast is serving the radical educational mission Pacifica was founded to pursue -- nor if the broadcasts are having an impact in the social and cultural life of our communities. However, as the current regime has chosen to guage the success of their "vision" by the Arbitron standard, we provide this information so that you may evaluate their results by their own standards.
