Subject: KPFA Programming Changes on April 1
Here's some of the official word from GZBerson to the KPFA staff in the March Programmers Memo (dated 3/14/97):
1. Program Changes
The Program Council has been diligently poring over the massive quantity
of listener information we have, from the Forums, the subscriber survey,
the AudiGraphics, the marathons, and our own brains. We are in the middle
of examining the entire schedule, and will be making changes over a period
of time. As of this date, these are the changes that will take place on
April 1:
*Living Room with Larry Bensky will air Monday-Friday from noon-1 PM. This
is a new nationally distributed program produced by KPFA. Sheryl Flowers
is the Producer. The program will be live with call-ins, covering a wide
variety of issues including politics, parenting, education, etc.
*Most of Brainstorm is moving to 2-3 PM.
*The 1:00 slot is now as follows:
Monday 1-1:30 Africa Today; 1:30-2 Radio Nation
Tuesday 1-2 Explorations with Michio Kaku
Wed 1-2 Seven Generations
Thurs 1-2 Voices of Pacifica (will resume Apr 17--we will finish the What
Does It Mean to Be an American series on Apr 3 & 10)
Fri 1-2 What's the Verdict with Wendell Harper
The final lineup of 1-3:30 may change depending on other decisions/ changes we make.
We have really only looked at Monday-Friday 7AM-6PM. We will continue, and we will continue to keep you informed as we make decisions.
2. Awards

12. Michele Is Leaving
After 4 years as KPFA's Music Director, Michele Flannery is leaving KPFA. I want to publicly thank her for the excellent work she has done with the music programming and music department, and wish her the very best for the future.
We have posted the job of Music Director. If you would like a copy of the Job Posting, please call Phil at ext. 255.
Larry talking: When I was in the station yesterday, I saw no sign of any job postings for the music position on any bulletin boards in the station. Also, I hear rumors on the grapevine among people still active at the station that more staff will be leaving within the next month or two. Also hear that the postponing of the Local Advisory Board meeting was ordered by GM Marci Lockwood just a couple of days before the meeting, with no advance warning or explanation to the board.
For those who care, I'll be guest host of the First Light show, 5-7 am, on Tues Mar 25.
