One fact is clear. For many years Pacifica has not reached the audience that it should. Talking to a small group of believers that every year becomes a smaller and less influential fraction of the people serves no interest except that of the reigning status quo...and I don't mean the Pacifica status quo. Grow, expand, create...

PS The idea of "community control" is a banner, but how you would operationalize such control without merely serving the claims of a small clique has not been stated. One might ask: who is this "community"? Can we identify by name the people within it? And who will speak for the millions who are not being reached and have not been reached? The national drift rightward is being accelerated by liberalism, leftism and the "New Democrats," who, by their mere theatrical opposition, actually strengthen the hegemony of the right. As the postmodernist put it, The Left builds the Right. Let's not fall into that trap.

The comfy past at Pacifica had to be changed!
