FROM: THE COMMITTEE TO REMOVE THE PACIFICA BOARD
With the news -- that corporate conglomerate media sharks are circling the bleeding Pacifica stations ready to make offers in the hundreds of millions for KPFA and possibly WBAI, that Mary Frances Berry is telling WBAI staff of plans to use the KPFA signal money to buy multiple stations throughout "the South," and that KPFT is planning on joining or has joined a large profit making consortium (i.e., cartel) of stations under the corporate sponsored umbrella of Public Radio International -- there is need to shout: THERE IS NO TIME FOR DELAY!
Removing the Pacifica Board of Directors is the ONLY WAY to stop this. A lawsuit is the ONLY WAY to remove the board. They will NOT go willingly.
Once the board is removed, and an interim board is in place committed to democratizing Pacifica and then holding elections and resigning -- then we can do the long hard work of resolving our many conflicts, revising the bylaws to provide appropriate voting power to various interests, and putting some ballast to this structure so that a small group at the top can never again commandeer and attempt to destroy our community based radio network.
You are URGENTLY REQUESTED to take these steps immediately:
2) download the appropriate Notice and Declaration to Remove the Board.
3) sign and return it by snail mail
4) make extra copies and ASK 10 OF YOUR FRIENDS and acquaintances to sign and return it.
