MESSAGE FROM KBOO BOARD MEMBER PER FAGERENG

There are however, some community producers who would like KBOO to produce its own newscast, and have been organizing on that issue --LG

Subject: KBOO drops disclaimer

On November, 25 the KBOO Board of Directors voted to drop the disclaimer that preceded Pacifica news. The vote was five in favor of dropping the disclaimer, two opposed and two abstaining. Two board members were not present.

The vote came during discussion of the station's contract with Pacifica to carry its news. It was revealed that Suzanne White, then KBOO's station manager and now working for another Portland station, had signed the contract without telling the board. ?There is also evidence that White lied to the board. At the August meeting she said the board had "time to deal with the contract before December" but she had just signed it July 21.
